I use windows 7 on my computer. 80% of my C drive is full and gradually the figure is increasing. As I use the windows, the Drive C is going to full. Besides, I didn’t save anything in drive C and my download directory is located in D but still the used space in the C is increasing regularly. Can you tell me how to free up and recover hard drive space in Windows 7 to get more empty space?
You don’t have to worry about it. The disk space increases due to some backup purposes which the operating system automatically creates; however, you can free up the hard disk space using the following procedures.
- Delete Temporary Internet files, which are made automatically when the server sends data to your browser; so the browser stores the files in a backup for future use.
- Delete Internet Temporary files created by computer programs; like Ms-Office programs. These files are created for backup purposes; so that they may be used later on, in case of unexpected deletion.
- Uninstall the unnecessary programs from your Drive C; moreover, install the heavy programs in other drives with no operating system.
- Delete the C:\$INPLACE.~TR and C:\WINDOWS.~Q folders. Deleting these files can also increase a large free space on your disc.
- Run Disc Cleanup Utility in the Properties Option of Drive.
- Empty recycle bin regularly.
- Move your account folder to other drive as user account folder contains user’s shortcuts, information and other stuffs like music files.
- Avoid hibernate you computer; furthermore delete the hiberfil.sys file.
- Delete extra restore points to free up more space.
- Use compressed folders to store files.
Hopefully it will help you to free up your hard drive space. In case you require more instructions call on 1.800.347.5377.
